SmartArt is a diagramming component first introduced within PowerPoint 2007 for Windows, and now available on most platforms where PowerPoint is available including Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, etc. Among other niceties, SmartArt allows you to replace boring bullet points with info-graphic content using text within shapes.

The chart templates you save within PowerPoint are saved into a default folder location which you do not have to worry about, as far as you are using those templates on the same computer where they are saved.

Even though charts are a visual medium, they still contain plenty of text in the form of data labels, titles, legend, axis labels, etc. Whenever you insert a new chart (or any other slide element), the default colors and fonts used are based on the active Theme of the presentation.

Your PowerPoint charts can look better if they are spaced apart well. You can increase the gap width so that there is enough space between the categories. Also, you can adjust the space between the individual data series within a category.
