Now this automatic conversion to hyperlinks can be a mixed blessing. In some ways, it can be beneficial because most of the time, this automatic conversion may just be what you need! In other scenarios, you may get offended by PowerPoint’s hand-holding. Luckily, there are ways in which you can control this automatic conversion. You can turn off this automatic hyperlinking for a single link, and you can also toggle on and off this conversion altogether!

This tutorial is about moving text boxes rather than text placeholders. Typically text placeholders for regular text content or even slide titles are located in the same position on successive slides. So, if you really do need to move a text placeholder, do it within the Slide Master so that this change of position happens on all slides, providing a consistent look to your presentation. This will also prevent you from repeatedly moving the placeholders on each and every slide of your presentation.

Why would you add a hyperlink to any slide object within PowerPoint? There may be many answers to that question, but if we had to choose one answer that would be true all the time, it would be to add value to your slides and enhance their capabilities. However, these hyperlinks are two-edged swords because when you create a hyperlink, you may be telling your audience that it is a link! The purpose here is to make this link transparent, as in “invisible”.

Although PowerPoint does include options to use pictures, SmartArt, charts, sounds, and even video clips, we rarely see presentations that have no text at all. Nothing conveys a message better than text, and even pictures do need captions in the form of text. In PowerPoint, several slide objects can include text. These include text placeholders, text boxes, shapes, tables, SmartArt, charts, etc.
