The Shapes tab is the last tab within the Media Browser in PowerPoint 2011. Here you can find all the built-in shapes that PowerPoint provides to add to your slides. The shapes included in the Media Browser can also be found in the Insert tab of the Ribbon.

The Symbols tab of the Media Browser provides access to all the symbols for keyboard characters, foreign languages, registered and copyright symbols, currency, etc. These symbols typically need to be inserted with a combination of keystrokes, and getting to add them to your slides with a single-click access can be a boon.

There are two types of tabs in the Media Browser in PowerPoint for Mac. The first type comprises those tabs that show media content within some designated folders on your computer (such as the Photos, Audio, and Movies tabs). The other three tabs (Clip Art, Symbols, and Shapes) show media content that’s part of the Microsoft Office collection. The Clip Art tab provides the quick and easy way in which you can browse Office 2011’s Clip Art collection. The other option to access the Clip Art is through the Clip Gallery.

If you have worked aplenty with text in PowerPoint, you must be aware that you cannot rotate text within a shape by 180°. What’s surprising is that you can rotate text by 90° and 270° within a shape, but not by 180°! But why would you need upside-down text that is rotated 180°? Many users do need this upside-down text to explain advanced concepts.

To learn more, choose your version of PowerPoint. If we do not have a tutorial for your version of PowerPoint, explore the version closest to the one you use.

The third tab within the Media Browser is the Movies tab. This tab provides quick access to movie clips (videos) that are already in your iMovie or Mac OS X Movies folders. In addition, it also shows any videos you create or store in your PhotoBooth and iTunes applications.
